What’s Tallow? How can I use it?

What is Tallow?

Tallow is render fat found around the kidney/liver area of a ruminant animal. Ruminate animals include cattle and sheep. Tallow has a lot of benefits. It contains vitamins A, D, E, K and B12. Tallow is known for anti-aging, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and anti-bacterial properties. Tallow is also good for dry skin, oily skin, and treating things like eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, sunburn, bee strings, scars, scrapes and more! Tallow was used by our ancestors. Our ancestors believed in not wasting anything so they used tallow for cooking and skin care on a daily basis. Tallow is not a “fad” or “trend”. It’s been around for a long time!

4 Ways to Use Tallow:

1. Skin care: Tallow makes a great addition to any skin care routine! It’s non-contagious and won’t leave you greasy after use! Use it from head to toe! Perfectly safe for newborns or pregnant as long as it’s “unscented”!

2. Cooking: Tallow is a great addition to any kitchen! It makes for a great non-stick alternative on any pan or pot. It is perfect for keeping cast irons season and ready for use! If you’re into fry foods, use tallow in the deep frier to make your fried foods even tastier! Tallow can even be used in baked goods!

3. Soap: Tallow is perfect for soap making because of its skin nourishing qualities! Tallow soap has a higher fat content so it doesn’t suds up as nicely as some of the soaps you might be use to but it can leave skin feeling moisturized and refreshed after each use! It’s safe for your face, body and young children!

4. Chapsticks: Tallow is a natural healer so combined with beeswax it makes an ultimate healer. Tallow chapstick is perfect for healing chapped lips or helping keep lips moisturized during the day!
